Tactical torches have always made a compromise: one beam pattern, one switch layout, one way to operate. The Nitecore P27iX eliminates all of that. Every critical function — beam pattern, brightness level, LUMIN SHIELD®, STROBE, SEARCH, and WARNING FLASH — is fully assignable to the control inputs of your choice, so the P27iX operates the way you train, not the way the manufacturer assumed you would.
At the heart of the P27iX are 4 × NiteLab M515S LEDs, each with a revolutionary X-shaped array architecture — a high-density central core surrounded by four high-efficiency outer cores in a diagonally symmetrical configuration. This architecture enables the P27iX’s defining capability: three selectable beam patterns from a single torch. Spotlight mode concentrates all power to the central cores for a focused 430-metre throw at 46,320 candela — ideal for identifying subjects and threats at distance. Floodlight mode fires all cores simultaneously for a 5000-lumen wide-area burst reaching 300 metres at 22,500 candela — maximum coverage for perimeter sweeps, vehicle stops, and area searches. Mixed mode balances both for general-purpose use. A micro-textured orange peel reflector ensures smooth, uniform output across all three patterns without harsh transitions or hotspot artefacts.
LUMIN SHIELD® — Nitecore’s signature 5000-lumen visual deterrence and defence mode — provides an overwhelming wide-beam burst for close-quarters control situations. STROBE READY™ delivers a randomised 16–20Hz strobe for maximum disorientation effect. SEARCH mode dedicates output to the long-throw central core for sustained distant target identification. WARNING FLASH provides a controlled signalling pattern for scene management and communication.
The control system is built around three independently programmable inputs: a dual-stage tail button, an Engage button, and a side SET button. The P27iX supports two grip configurations — Tactical Grip (primarily operated via the tail and Engage buttons for high-speed deployment) and Duty Grip (primarily operated via the SET button for sustained patrol and everyday use). Both Basic and Professional operating modes provide different levels of UI complexity to match operator experience. A Rapid Lock™ switch prevents any accidental activation during storage, transport, or holstered carry.
The stainless steel Strike Bezel is embedded with three silicon nitride ceramic balls — one of the hardest materials available — for rapid glass breaking and close-quarters self-defence capability. Cooling fins on the head manage thermal load during high-output sustained use. The body is machined from 7075-T6 aluminium — stronger than the 6061-T6 used in most torches — with an IP68 waterproof rating and impact resistance to 2 metres. The included NL2155HPi 21700 5500mAh battery provides up to 100 hours of runtime, with 18W USB-C fast charging filling it in approximately 2 hours with a QC/PD adapter.
