The Nitecore EDC15 is 16mm thick — a flat 85g torch that lies against your leg in a pocket — carrying two light sources. A NiteLab UHi 25 LED gives 1,200 lumens over 208 metres, with Ultralow running 200 hours, and a separate UV emitter runs three levels up to 1,350mW for leak detection, document verification and hygiene checks. A slide switch sets brightness and a separate M button swaps white for UV. Built-in 1,050mAh battery with USB-C, stainless steel shell with PVD coating, IPX7 and 2-metre impact resistance.

PRODUCT INFO

The EDC15 is 16mm thick. That number explains the whole design. It is a flat, slim torch that lies against your leg in a pocket instead of forming a cylinder you feel all day — 111 × 28 × 16mm and 85g with the battery — and it carries two light sources, so it works as both an everyday torch and an inspection tool.

The white light is a NiteLab UHi 25 LED behind a precision metal orange peel reflector, producing 1,200 lumens, 10,886 candela and a 208-metre beam. An orange peel reflector is a deliberate choice here: it slightly softens the hotspot and widens the spill, giving you both usable distance and a wide working beam rather than a tight circle surrounded by darkness.

Four white levels run High 1,200lm, Mid 400lm, Low 50lm and Ultralow 1 lumen. Nitecore quote total runtimes of 1hr 15min, 1hr 30min, 11 hours and 200 hours respectively — the High figure includes automatic step-down under the ATR module, with roughly half an hour at the full 1,200 before it eases back. That 200-hour Ultralow is the number that matters day to day: it means the torch is still working at the end of a week you forgot to charge it. Strobe runs at the full 1,200 lumens.

The UV light is the second reason to buy this torch. Three levels run from 220mW up to 1,350mW, with runtimes of 11 hours, 3 hours and 2 hours. At 1,350mW this is genuine inspection output, not a token emitter — enough for leak detection, document and currency verification, hygiene checks, pet stain and fungal checks, and general material inspection.

One honest note on the UV wavelength. The EDC15 emits across 365nm to 375nm rather than a pure 365nm. That is well clear of the cheap 395nm “blacklights” and perfectly capable for the uses above, but if your work depends on maximum fluorescence contrast — forensics, mineral identification, fine detection work — a dedicated filtered 365nm light will still outperform it. The EDC15’s strength is that you have a capable UV source in your pocket every day, not stored in a case.

Controls separate cleanly: a slide switch handles power and brightness, and an M button switches between white and UV. You never cycle through UV to reach a white level. Power indicators report remaining charge, a highly efficient constant current circuit keeps output stable as the battery drains, and Advanced Power Cut-Off keeps standby drain negligible between uses.

Power is a built-in 1,050mAh Li-ion battery charged over USB-C. The shell is high-strength stainless steel with a PVD coating — noticeably more scratch and corrosion resistant than anodised aluminium, which is why it suits a torch that lives in a pocket against keys. Rated IPX7 and impact resistant to 2 metres, with a stainless steel deep-carry clip fitted.
