PRODUCT INFO

The MT001 is a dedicated long-range thrower. A single Luminus SBT90.2 — one of the highest-intensity LEDs made, rated to 100,000 hours — sits behind a large smooth reflector in a 69mm head, producing 6,800 lumens and a rated beam intensity of 2,350,000 candela. Everything about the design is built around concentrating light rather than spreading it.

Mateminco rate the MT001 at 2,350,000 candela and a 3,065-metre beam distance, measured under laboratory conditions with the 46950 pack. In the field it is a genuine extreme-range thrower, projecting a tight hotspot well beyond a kilometre.

The battery is what sets this torch apart. It runs a single 46950 cell at 32,000mAh — a format most people have never seen, roughly ten times the capacity of a typical 18650 — and it is removable rather than sealed in. That capacity translates into runtimes no conventional thrower can approach: up to 26 days in moonlight mode, 47 to 14 hours across the mid levels, and Turbo from 2 seconds through to 12 hours depending on the level held.

Stepless dimming runs alongside four practical modes, so brightness adjusts smoothly to exactly what a task needs instead of stepping between fixed levels. An intelligent temperature control system adjusts output automatically to prevent overheating, backed by a multi-stage heat dissipation design — necessary when an SBT90.2 is drawing over 16 amps.

Two-way USB-C handles both directions: fast charging in, and power bank output to charge a phone, GPS or radio from that 32,000mAh reserve. In a remote or emergency situation that reserve is arguably more useful than the beam. An electronic lockout prevents accidental activation, and the cell shuts down automatically below 2.8V to protect itself from over-discharge.

The body is aluminium alloy with a tempered coated glass lens, measuring 191.4 × 69 × 55mm and weighing 960g with the battery fitted. It is rated IPX6 against powerful water jets — rain and spray rather than submersion — and tested to 1 metre of drop resistance. A tripod mount screw and shoulder strap are supplied, which matter on a torch this size: mounted on a tripod it becomes a fixed observation light, and the strap takes the weight on a long walk.
