The Mateminco Gecko pairs an Osram KW CSLNM1.TG white emitter — 780 lumens, 42,000 candela, a 410-metre beam — with a dedicated Lextar PU21S31 365nm UVA lamp, in a 79g body just 107mm long. 365nm is the wavelength professionals specify because it produces clean fluorescence without the visible violet flood of cheaper 395nm emitters. Please note: this is a 365nm UVA inspection light, not a UVC germicidal light — it does not sterilise or disinfect. Tail clicky switch, single 14500 cell with USB-C charging, aerospace aluminium, IPX6.

PRODUCT INFO

The Gecko is a dual-emitter inspection torch that pairs a genuinely capable white beam with a dedicated 365nm UVA lamp, in a body just 107mm long and 79g. Most UV torches give you a weak white mode as an afterthought, or a UV mode that is really a violet LED. This one does both properly.

An important clarification before anything else. The Gecko’s ultraviolet emitter is a Lextar PU21S31 operating at 365nm, which is UVA. It is an inspection and fluorescence tool — it is not a UVC germicidal light and does not sterilise or disinfect. UVC sits at 200–280nm and is a different technology entirely. If you need surface disinfection, this is not the product; if you need to make things fluoresce, 365nm is exactly the wavelength you want.

That matters because 365nm is the wavelength professionals specify. The cheaper 395nm emitters most torches use throw out a flood of visible violet that washes out the very fluorescence you are looking for. A true 365nm source keeps visible bleed low, so the thing that glows stands out sharply against a dark background — the difference between finding a stain, a leak or a security mark and squinting at a purple haze.

The white channel is an Osram KW CSLNM1.TG, a throw-oriented emitter producing 780 lumens with 42,000 candela and a 410-metre beam. For a torch of this size that is a serious reach, and it means the Gecko works as a standard torch rather than something you carry alongside one.

Operation is a tail-mounted clicky switch with multiple modes — a deliberate choice for inspection work, where a positive mechanical click is easier to operate by feel than an electronic switch when your attention is on the surface rather than the torch. The body is aerospace-grade aluminium, rated IPX6 against heavy rain and water jets, and tested to 1 metre of impact resistance.

Power is a single 14500 cell with USB-C charging built into the body. Measuring 107 × 26.2 × 21.2mm at 79g, it sits comfortably in a shirt pocket or a tool pouch.

Use it sensibly. Even at UVA wavelengths, do not look directly into the emitter or shine it at anyone’s eyes, and avoid prolonged skin exposure at close range. UV-blocking eyewear is worth having for extended inspection sessions.

Key Features

  • Dual emitters: Osram KW CSLNM1.TG white and Lextar PU21S31 365nm UVA
  • 365nm UVA — the wavelength professionals specify, with far less visible violet bleed than 395nm emitters
  • NOT a UVC germicidal light — this is an inspection and fluorescence tool, it does not sterilise or disinfect
  • 780 lumens white output with 42,000 candela and a 410-metre beam
  • Genuine throw performance, so it works as a standard torch as well as a UV lamp
  • Tail-mounted clicky switch with multiple modes — positive mechanical feel for inspection work
  • Powered by a single 14500 cell
  • USB-C charging built into the body
  • Aerospace-grade aluminium construction
  • Compact at 107 × 26.2 × 21.2mm and 79g
  • IPX6 — protected against heavy rain and water jets
  • Impact resistant to 1 metre

Use Cases / Ideal For

  • Pest control and building inspection — 365nm reveals rodent urine, stains and biological traces that 395nm emitters wash out
  • Forensics and crime scene work — fluorescence detection at the wavelength the field actually specifies, in a torch that fits a pocket
  • Currency, document and security mark verification — clean fluorescence with minimal visible violet interference
  • Mineral identification and fossicking — 365nm is the standard for fluorescent mineral work, and the 410-metre white beam covers getting there and back
  • Leak tracing and HVAC work — UV dye detection with a white beam capable enough to work by afterwards
  • Art and antiques inspection — reveals retouching, repairs and varnish layers under long-wave UV
