The Imalent BTL50 is a pocket-sized EDC torch that solves the zoom problem for good — replacing mechanical sliding lenses with a liquid crystal diffractive electro-optic lens that switches between a 705-metre spotlight and a 313-metre flood beam electronically, in one press. Mechanical zoom torches have a fundamental problem: sliding the head in and out wears down seals, loosens tolerances, and requires two hands. The Imalent BTL50 throws out the mechanical system entirely and replaces it with a liquid crystal diffractive electro-optic lens — a solid-state optical system with no moving parts that switches between beam modes electronically at the press of a button.
In Spotlight mode the BTL50 concentrates its 5700–6500K LED into a focused beam reaching 705 metres, with enough intensity to identify objects and subjects at extreme range for its size. One press shifts to Flood mode, spreading light across a 313-metre wide illumination field for broad area coverage — camp lighting, trail walking, or searching a large space. No lens swapping, no wear, no seal compromise — just one button.
Five brightness levels give comprehensive coverage of every scenario. Eco mode at 15 lumens stretches the built-in 3000mAh 18650 battery for hours of low-drain ambient use — perfect as a camp night light or reading light. Low (250lm), Mid (550lm), and High (1000lm) provide a smooth progression for general use, and Turbo at 3000 lumens delivers full output when the situation demands it. A Strobe mode is available for signalling and emergency use.
Smart thermal control monitors the body temperature and adjusts output during sustained high-level use to protect the LED and driver from heat damage — maintaining reliable performance and preserving the LED’s 50,000-hour rated lifespan. A battery indicator blinks red when charge is running low. The triple-tap safety lock prevents any accidental activation when the BTL50 is stowed in a pocket, bag, or glove box — three taps to lock, three taps to unlock.
The textured aluminium alloy body is IP56 rated for water and dust resistance and drop-tested to 1 metre, making it genuinely capable in outdoor conditions. USB-C charging at the tail keeps it topped up from any modern power source. A lanyard attachment point on the tail provides extra security during active use.
