The Fenix HM65R V2.0 pairs a Luminus SST40-GEN2 spotlight with a Luminus SST-20F floodlight that run independently or combine for 2200 lumens and a 229-metre beam, alongside a 140-lumen red light with three levels plus flash. Dual top-mounted switches give separate control of each beam without cycling modes, and the magnesium alloy body keeps weight down while holding an IP68 rating and 2-metre impact resistance.

Powered by a replaceable 3400mAh 18650 with an inner-waterproofed USB-C port and up to 296 hours of runtime.

Additional information

PRODUCT INFO

The Fenix HM65R V2.0 builds on one of Fenix’s longest-running headlamp designs with more output, a wider mode range, and a dedicated red light system. Three independent light sources sit behind the lens: a Luminus SST40-GEN2 spotlight at 6500K for long-range work, a Luminus SST-20F floodlight at 6500K for close-range coverage, and a 3535 red LED for night-vision preservation and signalling.

Spot, Flood and Red

Spot and flood are controlled by separate top-mounted switches, so each beam runs independently or both together. The spotlight offers four levels topping out at 1800 lumens with a 229-metre reach, while the floodlight runs three levels from 500 lumens down to a 5-lumen Low that lasts 296 hours.

Running both simultaneously produces the headlamp’s 2200-lumen combined maximum for 3.3 hours — useful where you need distance and immediate foreground coverage at the same time, such as caving or ground search.

The red light is new to this generation and activates with a quick double-tap, avoiding the need to cycle through white output and lose dark adaptation. Three levels — 140, 30, and 5 lumens — plus a flashing mode cover map reading, camp movement, wildlife observation, and emergency signalling. The 5-lumen Low runs for 193 hours.

Build and Weight

The body is magnesium alloy rather than aluminium, which is what allows the HM65R V2.0 to carry three light sources and a 3400mAh cell while staying comfortable over a long shift. It is rated IP68 with inner waterproof treatment on the USB-C port, so the charging port remains sealed rather than relying on an external flap, and it is tested to 2 metres of impact resistance.

Battery and Charging

Power comes from the included Fenix ARB-L18-3400 18650 battery, replaceable and recharged in the headlamp via USB-C in approximately 2.5 hours. Two 16340 cells or two CR123A batteries can be substituted when recharging is not an option. A battery level indicator shows remaining charge, intelligent overheat protection steps output down above 55°C, and a low-voltage warning progressively reduces brightness rather than cutting out.

An electronic lockout — both switches held for three seconds — prevents accidental activation in a pack. An adjustable tilting bracket directs the beam where it is needed.
